In this article Learn how to cook Hy vee chicken grillers at home, Several years ago, Hy-Vee Meat employees at our Blue Springs, Missouri store received a request from a customer: add chicken and cheese and other ingredients, wrap it in bacon and be done. This simple request sparked many ideas for our butchers, and the broiler chicken was born. As other stores heard about these special meats, the popularity of grilled chicken is spreading. Today, Hy-Vee is the world’s first home of grilled chicken, with 12 varieties currently available!

A simple dinner is just a few things away. Get Hy-Vee’s specialty sandwiches, pies and chicken grills for easy meals that demand a bite.

  • 1. Heat a charcoal or gas grill to medium heat. Place the chicken on the baking sheet. Grill 20 to 30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 170 degrees, turning every 6 to 7 minutes. 
  • 2. During the last 10 minutes of cooking, add the garlic bread and asparagus to the grill. Bake the asparagus according to package directions. 
  • 3. Remove the roasted chicken, garlic bread and asparagus from the grill. Serve immediately.

Hy-Vee Chicken Grills are wrapped in bacon and filled with cheese and other toppings for grilling or grilling. You can buy them in two different forms: stuffed chicken or hash patties. Either way, you’re getting the Hy-Vee-only treat when you pick up or order broiler chicken.

Directions

Step 1

First things first: choose your grilled chicken flavor. There are 12 flavors in all, here are some of our favorites.

Sante Fe: Banana and green pepper, bacon and bacon sauce.

Cowgirl™: Monterrey Jack, neck, green peppers and bacon. Pizza: Pepperoni, mozzarella, marinara sauce and bacon.

Ham and cheese: ham, cheddar and Swiss. Cowboy™: hot cheese and jalapeno peppers.

Hawaiian: Pineapple, brown sugar ham and bacon. Three cheeses: bacon with Swiss, cheddar and American cheese.

You can also get ground patties perfect for a spicy chicken burger or stuffed chicken breast for a quick and easy meal.

Step 2

Grill them: To grill the chicken hash patty, turn the heat to medium. If frozen, cook the patties over medium heat for 23-27 minutes. If melted, cook the patty over medium heat for about 14 minutes. Frozen or thawed, make sure the patty reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees. To cook the chicken stock, turn the heat to medium. Grill for 20 to 30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 170 degrees, turning every 6 to 7 minutes. For extra grill flavor, wrap your Chicken Griller in heavy-duty foil that has been covered with sterile cooking water. A poor seal allows the liquid to soak into the chicken making it a permanent filling. The bacon will finish nicely and golden. Open it at the end of cooking to add grill marks!

Step 3

To make: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put the chicken eggs in the baking dish, cover it, and bake for 40 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 170 degrees. To make the pork crispy, put the grillers under the broiler for 5 minutes or until bacon is tender.

Step 4

Air Fry ‘Em: Heat an air fryer to 350 degrees according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Lightly spray 2 large sheets of aluminum foil using a non-stick coating. Wrap 2 Hy-Vee stuffed chicken breasts in foil. Place the covered ingredients in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 18-20 minutes or until chicken reaches 165 degrees. Remove from air fryer. spray the air fryer basket with unnecessary water. Carefully remove the chicken pieces. Return the chicken eggs to the air fryer basket. Air fry for 4-5 minutes or until the pork is tender.
